MIAMI, FL - Mel Zuckerman, founder of Canyon Ranch, the world's most celebrated health resorts, announced the development of Canyon Ranch's first healthy living residential community: Canyon Ranch Living, a seven-acre oceanfront property featuring 151 condo-hotel suites and 467 condominium residences, including traditional Canyon Ranch facilities and services.
"Canyon Ranch Living is the natural evolution of the Canyon Ranch experience," said Zuckerman. "The project is the fulfillment of Canyon Ranch's longtime mission of providing a community where residents can embrace the joy of healthy living."
The first Canyon Ranch Living community, scheduled to open in 2005, will be overseen by Canyon Ranch executive vice president and chief strategy officer Kevin M. Kelly. Citing a values-based national study commissioned by Canyon Ranch in 2002, Kelly said, "Almost a third of Americans are seeking the concept embodied by Canyon Ranch Living -- a community designed around the central theme of healthy living. We were thrilled to discover that the study, conducted in nine major U.S. markets, confirms that there is a segment of the population looking for a different residential lifestyle than is presently available in the marketplace."
Canyon Ranch Living, a collaboration with WSG Development Company, will be built on the oceanfront site of the former Carillon Hotel, a late '50s historic hotel known for its distinctive art modern-style. The Carillon, located at 6801 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach, has been closed since 1987. It is being renovated and preserved as part of the development. The renowned architectural firms of the Rockwell Group and Arquitectonica have been selected to transform the original Carillon Hotel. The Rockwell Group has designed the public spaces and interiors. Arquitectonica, the master architectural firm, has designed two new condominium towers housing one, two, three bedroom and penthouse residences.
Residents will have access to a 60,000 square-foot Spa & Fitness Center, including a Canyon Ranch Health & Healing Center that will offer preventive medicine and wellness services. Neighborhood amenities will include walking and biking paths along the beach, common areas for play, water sports and relaxation, a fitness center, a Canyon Ranch Café that will serve nutritious gourmet food, healthy living lecture series and luxurious spa and body treatments.
